Notebook Guidelines
For 8th grade social studies, students will need a 1-1 1/2 inch binder. This binder will be used to organize class handouts, homework assignments, project materials, quizzes, tests and any other items used for class. Staying organized is essential for success. Its also good practice for high school. Students will be required to keep a binder for two years of global studies in 9th and 10th grade.
Students will also need five tab dividers for their binders. There will be one tab for each quarter and a "general" tab. The general tab will be used to accumulate class handouts and information that applies to the whole year and not one particular quarter. The binders will be graded twice a quarter and count for 50 points each. These notebook tests will be announced one week in advance. Students will be asked a series of questions that should be answered from the notes. Basically, if all materials are complete and in order these assessments should be fairly straight forward.
